This is my title sequence, i thought it would be relevant to upload this video for question 7 because it's an overview of everything that i have learnt. I've learnt how to use a camera, use Mac software such as LiveType Pro etc, upload videos and images to blog and most importantly i've learnt how make a short film on my own with no experience.
This video is also very relevant it's the first excersise my group and i did preparing for actually making the title sequence. This is a match cut video we was focusing on matching the shots so they flow well. This was good practice beacsue it got us handling the camera and being precise with the footage we got, it also showed me how hard it would be to make a title sequence because it took a long time to make both videos and they are both only a couple of minutes.
Whilst doing this coursework i have actually learnt a lot, i learnt simple things such how to convert pictures and videos to JPEG and how to play back shots that i've recorded on the camera, how to set up a tripod and what words like continuity and animatics mean. I have to admit that working with all the different types of technologies has been difficult because theres so much to remember and it gets quite confusing. When it came to things like Finalcut Pro, Live Type and Soundtrack Pro it was very much trial and error, matching shots perfectly was very hard beacuse if it didin't flow well when editing i had to go back to the camera and re-shoot, aslo matching the music to the shots was difficult because if it didn't sound right i would have to fade out the music to restart it. When editing in Live Type it was tiring because the video was quite longer than intended and there was only about 8 credits so i had to evenly space out the credits with the different shots so it flowed well. I liked learning about different shot types, and i enjoyed the very first match cut filming task because it shows you that theres more to a camera than just poinitng it at what your filming and pressing playt. Different shot types have a big effect on how well a shot looks for example long shots are good for showing an important character and behind the shoulder shots allow the viewer to see what the characters are seeing. When it came to blogging i thought it would be just standard writing about what i had done but it was more than that, i had to experiment with different things such uploading videos and making montages. With the blogging i believe i could have done better by uploading a range of technologies but i did have troubles, for example i couldn't upload my recordings after several attempts and some software wasn't compatible with blogger and couldn't be rendered. Overall i think i gained quite a lot of skills from doing this coursework so if i was to do it again i would be more confident in what im doing. One big imporatnt thing i've learnt from this is to make a good film or title sequence you have to start with a simple idea, then all the camera work and editing will make it better.
