In our thriller opening, a character was introduced to the audience, it resembled someone of a modern day voodoo enthusiast, who takes practices in the art of black magic to achieve her goals. this low budget student film portrays many charcteristics which can be associated with certain social groups, whereby we aim that it can be positive though ca be percieved as stereotypical.
Though on the picture featured the character iis not shown in full, this shows mysteriousness which is associated with people who practice voodoo. Also, we get a sense of eeriness because her hand is clasping the book. Social groups that can be associated with this ind of theme would be african people because as i am of african origin, ive been taught that in certain parts of african black magic is practised. Also this is illustrated by the use of afrcan materials which have deep, rich colours suitable for a tribal mise en scene.
